Joe Carr
Electric/Acoustic Guitar/ Mandolin/ Vocals
Born in Wheeling, West Virginia, on March 2, At eleven years old, Joe picked up playing the guitar and
mandolin from jamming with bluegrass bands and musicians. He continued playing bluegrass music for many
years and was one of the original members of the Wheeling Park High School Bluegrass Band. The band
toured throughout the eastern part of the United States, playing many festivals.
They performed bluegrass shows like the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards in Louisville,
Kentucky with Ricky Skaggs, and the historic Capital Music Hall in Wheeling many times.
Joe graduated from Wheeling Park High School and then received an Associated Degree in Paralegal from
Wheeling Business College.
After forming the band COALTRAIN, with Chris Denham, Joe had the perfect opportunity to blend all of his
musical influences: country, blues, rock, and folk. All of these help to form the band's sound. His musical
influences range from The Grateful Dead & Jim Croce to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman
Brothers and Willie & Waylon. Joe's goal is to keep playing and writing music for COALTRAIN and to watch the
crowds continue to grow every show.
