| CHRIS DENHAM Lead vocals/Fiddle/Drums "live" Chris was born the day after Christmas, December 26, in Wheeling, West Virginia. He attended Sanford Elementary School, where he learned to play fiddle. He played for six years performing at school concerts and on special occasions at the Glen Dale Methodist Church, where he and his family are members. Also performing at these special occasions was another church member, young Brad Paisley. |
| After graduating from high school, he left Wheeling for the US Army. His first stop after basic training was in Oklahoma, training to be a Cannon-Fire Direction Specialist. Next stop was Fort Benning, Georgia, where he graduated from Airborne School. Chris then relocated to North Carolina for three years as he continued being a US Army paratrooper. After the army, Chris moved back to Wheeling where he worked several jobs, driving for a retail company and eventually he got into construction and received his CDL. |
In 1999, he enjoyed singing karaoke at the local bars and realized that he still had a passion for music. Not only did he want to sing, entertain, and write songs, but he also wanted to play the fiddle again! One of Chris's friends, Joe Carr, had been playing guitar for over ten years, and after Chris suggested forming a band, they began to practice. Soon, the rest of the members of the band were in place, and COALTRAIN was born. |
